AM Awards | Winner Testimonials

It's not just about the evening celebration...  Read how previous winners have used their accolades within the industry.

Andrew Iveson, general manager, Livingstone Motor Group (winner of DP/GM of the Year 2022) - "Becoming an AM Award winner helps open doors, creates additional friendships of like-minded professionals that are passionate about the motor trade and gives you unspoken kudos that gives people confidence when dealing with you. I was blown away to receive my AM Award, I would encourage anyone to believe in themselves and go for it."

Caroline Burnell, head of marketing & communications, eStar Truck & Van (winner of Marketing Strategy of the Year 2022) - "Hearing our name called out as winners was the most surreal experience; never in my career did I expect to be up on stage at the AM Awards collecting the award on behalf of the team for Marketing Strategy of the Year. I would encourage entries for all sizes and sectors within our great industry - the AM Awards winners represent the best of the best, irrespective of size and status."

Sharon Ashcroft, HR director, TrustFord (winner of Leader in Diversity & Inclusion 2022) - "My heart was absolutely beating when TrustFord was announced as winner of the Leader in Diversity and Inclusion award. I am absolutely overwhelmed. Diversity and Inclusion is something that is completely owned from the board down. This is absolutely in our DNA, in our values, in our purpose. The award is a great recognition that this is how we operate now at TrustFord."

Daksh Gupta, chief executive, Marshall Motor Holdings (winner of Business Leader of the Year & Dealer Group of the Year 2021) - “Being an AM Award winner is something that means a lot to us all at Marshall and an accolade we are very proud of. The awards ultimately recognise the outstanding work of our amazing teams. They also help in underscoring our reputation in the industry of being a high performing partner of choice and, therefore, an employment destination.”

Julia Greenhough, marketing director, TrustFord (winner of Best Marketing Strategy 2021) - “Winning the AM Award is hugely rewarding. It’s great for everybody involved and makes them feel those tougher times and the hard work that’s gone in has paid off. It gives a warm feeling to everyone no matter what their role is within the business.”

Peter Vardy, chief executive officer, Peter Vardy Ltd (winner of Best Online Customer Experience & Community Hero Award 2021) - “We have always enjoyed the competition of the AM Awards. Some of the planning we do prior to the entry gives us a sense check of what we are doing and we always value that review time. The awards are always an enjoyable event in themselves and we have found it a good team-building event to get various leaders together each year. If we have managed to win, then the impact on colleague morale and the encouragement that gives is second to none. Everyone loves encouragement and to win an award among your peers is an incredible lift for the teams.”

Eddie Hawthorne, chief executive & group managing director, Arnold Clark (5 times winner 2019, including Dealer Group of the Year) - It is a very special honour for Arnold Clark to have been recognised by AM with five awards in 2019. These awards are highly regarded in the industry, and recognise a company’s exceptional commitment to innovation and quality – two values that we feel align closely with our own aims for the business. We choose to proudly display our AM Dealer Group of the Year status for 2019 on our website, as we understand the value and reassurance it holds for our customers too.

Richard Gough, general manager, Mercedes-Benz of Preston (winner of Dealer Principal/General Manager of the Year 2019) - It was a great feeling to be nominated for an award, but even better to walk away on the evening with a great award. I would not have achieved so much if it was not for all those people that helped me, from the first time I attended back in 2005, to the current day. The award has helped and impacted in ways you don’t always first appreciate, from customers mentioning the award to industry professionals and potential new recruits connecting and wanting to work within a successful team. The impact that has hit home is those that have been in touch, looking for guidance, views or assistance in their own career path, which has been fantastic. As award winners, it’s our duty to help guide tomorrows award winners.

Neil Smith, operations director, Imperial Cars (winner of Best Used Car Dealer - Independent 2019) - The AM awards is the premium event of the year and after an unbeatable year at Imperial, to be recognised with an award was the icing on the cake.   We're all set to take advantage of the coming 12 months, where we're determined to win the top spot once more!  It's a great event overall and one of the first dates we add to the diary.

Tim Holden, chief executive, Holden & Holden (winner of The AM People Investor Award 2019) - I think it was great way to celebrate the company's achievements with some of the employees who played a part in helping develop such a great culture. It was a fun night out and it's always nice to get some industry recognition for the bits we do really well.

Gordon Veale, general manager, Carbase (winner of Most Improved Dealership 2019) - We're delighted that AM has recognised our dedication to continuous improvement with this fantastic award. We are constantly adapting our systems through data analysis to produce a higher quality experience for our customers and it means the world to us knowing it is paying off and is reflecting positively upon our business. We’re extremely proud of these achievements, and of all of our staff, without whom we would not be where we are today.
